Memorial Day
Terry Mattingly and family are leaving us again. I know that
experience. I had it with the US Department of State.
We had a going away cook-out for Terry and his family. I took
the #10 bus from Patterson Park Avenue to the cookout. It was
quite an enjoyable ride and we had a great bus driver.
This was a wonderful event for me, especially since I got to see
some of my kids. It is exciting watching them grow up and
become adults. I still cherish the photo of one of them
sitting on the bishop's lap several years ago.
The food is always very good at functions of an Orthodox church, and
this event was no exception. One could die for the pulled pork
and the banana pudding was the best that I can remember.
We started the event with prayer, of course. Everybody was
able to take an active part in the prayer and we also sang Memory
Eternal for those who gave their lives in battle for our
country. |
