Another Snow
On the afternoon of Wednesday 4 March 2015 almost everybody starting
shutting down for a big snow storm. We still had snow and ice on the
streets from the previous storm. Everybody ran out of salt. I had
plenty of salt at the beginning of the winter and I also ran out of
it.
That afternoon I received a call from Inspector Banks of the
Baltimore City Police Department and when I looked on my calendar,
nothing was there, so I scheduled to go in to do my application for
the Police Chaplaincy. Later I realized that I had an IMA
meeting scheduled. But, thank God, it was cancelled the next
morning.
So I took the bus and subway to the Police Headquarters
building. I was going to take the #5 bus, but the #35 came
first and a man suggested that I just take the subway. That
worked perfectly.
The photographs on this page are from my trip to and from the police
headquarters. After I finished my application process, I had
wonderful conversations with Officer Grear and Det. Smith at the
front desk. At one point I had my hand in my pocket and she
mentioned that when people come in, she often asks them to take
their hand out of their pocket. This is a safety thing.
She was not referring to where my hand happened to be, but it made
me think and I'm glad that she did.
I shared with her about the time I was in Crestwood NY and stopped
by the police there because I fit the description of a suspect of a
bank robbery that occurred within the hour. I look upon that
incident with fond memories.
When I left the building, I was concerned about how long I would
have to wait for the bus and I did not want to take the regular
#5. Almost as soon as I got to the corner, my bus came.
