Street Cleaning

The Rose Street Community Center has a new program for the kids in the neighborhood. In the mornings the kids clean the streets in the neighborhood and my street is one of them. Mr. Butch and I have been doing the north end of the block and Ms. Evelyn, 92, has near her house.

A couple of times last month I left the house and was thrilled to see that my street was clean.  I did not know who was responsible.  So I went down the street and thanked the men who clean the streets in the area.  They have never come to my block.

Ms. Betsy told me that it was kids who were cleaning the streets, but they do it at 07:00.  On Thursday 2 July 2015 I left early to go to Liturgy at our temple and I saw the kids.  I immediately pulled out my camera and took some photos.  I also thanked them for their work.

They work in the morning and in the afternoon they are taken to fun things.  They are encouraged to keep the area clean and we hope that they will impact the adults who see this as a concrete jungle, namely when they finish eating, they just throw down the trash as if they were in the jungle.

Thank you, boys and girls, for a wonderful job.
