Washington Orthodox Clergy Association

Being a part of the Washington Orthodox Clergy Association is a real blessing. Priests and deacons in the Washington area meet to fellowship and discuss issues which affect us as Orthodox Christians.

We started in the temple with a tour.  Fr. Victor shared with us an icon which belonged to the Royal Family and we have reasons to believe that it belonged to Catherine the Great.  It is very rare for a parish to be named after the Beheading of St. John the Baptist.

We discussed relationship with the Ethiopian Churches and the visit of Patriarch JOHN of Antioch to the United States.  We also talked about the various issues in the Middle East and also the unity concert last weekend in Washington DC.  Fr. Dimitrios told us about a meeting that he attended at the State Department and Fr. Nicholas told us about the activities over the weekend and he reported that our Bishop JOHN spoke very well about the history of Russian Orthodoxy in America.  His Grace received an emergency call Sunday afternoon and had to leave the banquet in Philadelphia in honor of Fr. Vincent  Saverino, pastor emeritus of St. Michael Orthodox Cathedral.
