BCCC Awards
Can you believe it? I'm on the Dean's List at Baltimore City
Community College. The college and an awards banquet for those on
the dean's list and other students being honored.
Except for the band being much too loud, the event was really
good. It might be a black thing to have a loud band at these
events. This is not a part of my culture. It was
impossible to hold conversation. I did not expect this to be a
dinner-dance.
I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was very good. A
classmate of mine, Thao, happened to enter right after I did and her
family gave me a ride to the bus. The walk between the nearest
bus and Martin's West is at least 15 minutes and it is not good to
be doing this in the dark. Her husband and son are fantastic
people. I was really impressed, but not surprised, by them.
At Texas Southern University and BCCC, my GPA is roughly 3.5 out of
4.0. At Merrimack College where I hold my B.A. degree and at
St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary where I hold my MDiv.
degree, I have a total of two As in seven years and my GPA is
roughly 2.5 out of 4.0.
I'm very grateful to BCCC because I'm getting additional education
to help me to give back to the community. I'm also very
grateful to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center because of the
pastoral education that I am receiving from them.
I recently finished the Allied Human Services [social work] program
at BCCC and now I am working on computer networking. I hope to
be able to set up a computer network at home and at church and for
small non-profit organizations. |
