Holy Friday
Jesus Christ died for us and our sins on Great and Holy Friday, also
known as Good Friday. It is called "Good Friday" because of His
saving act for our salvation.
Many of us plan to stay at church the whole day. We start off
with the Royal Hours. This is two-hour service of Psalms and
Scripture readings.
After this service we set up the Tomb of Christ in preparation for
Holy Friday Vespers in the afternoon. This is a very beautiful
Vespers service in which we place the shroud on the Tomb. Then in
the evening we have the Lamatation Service or the Matins of Holy
Saturday. Iwas very fortunate to have heard Archbishop DMITRI read
the Prophecy of Isaiah, also known as"The Dried Bones" prophecy. |
