Southeastern District CRC

On the first Monday of the month we have the Community Relations Council meeting. I attend the Southeastern District's meetings because my church is in the district.

State Delegate Luke Clippinger told us that a law on juvenile justice takes place 1 June 2019.  Now it is also against the law to sell or loan a hand gun.    The State also dealt with a couple of junk drivers bill, including requiring a picture when using the interlock.

A woman asked about a law requiring a judge's name to be more available.  A man asked what is being proposed to prevent what just happened in the City, namely the removal or resignation of the mayor.  We do not have an effective process to remove the mayor.

Captain Brian Hopkins gave us a crime update.  He told us that there is an app recording crime, but we should be careful since it is not coming from the Police Department.

Dr. Humphries told us that we are having free training to deal with trauma.  Larry Nunley of DPW told us about the upcoming Big Truck day.  Joe Wilkie told us about the Sea Cadets of the U.S. Navy Reserves.  There is also the Baltimore Police Explorers.Elaine Wilkie told us about the Gail Adams Service grants from $250 to $1,500.  You must be a 501(c)3 organization.

Sharon Jones is working on the Family Fun Fitness and Safety Day.

If you live in the Southeastern District, you really should attend these meetings.  You never know what you can learn.
