More Scenery

This page is just more scenery of Seton Hill and some houses in West Baltimore.

Trinacria Macaroni Works has a deceiving name. Yes, you can buy macaroni there, but you can buy so much more. One friend told me that I am very fortunate to live within walking distance of this wonderful store and I agree. They have fantastic merchandise and the people are really great. The day I wrote this page I happened to be walking across the street from the store and one of the employees saw me and greeted me. He was outside helping a customer. I go in the store less than once a month, but the way that they treat me, one would think that I go there almost daily. When Fr. Frank Dondio was the pastor of St. Jude Shrine, they had a Church Unity Octave service every year in January. The late Fr. Constantine Monios used to represent the Orthodox Church and on two occasions I was there with him. This gave us an opportunity to share our faith with others.

The Israeli Church of Christ is a militant black church in the area. One time when I passed the church, one of the men asked me "When are you coming to the true church of God." When I told him that I already am, he called me a false prophet. On another occasion a man engaged me in a conversation and he asked me, "Do white people go to your church?" When I said yes, he was shocked. At that point I ended the conversation. I do not have time for racism, especially in churches. I'm mentioning this because on some of the Orthodox lists I mentioned my experiences here.

Finally, there are many vacant houses in Baltimore and when I see this and the number of homeless people, I am apalled. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to do anything about this. Many of these houses can be rehabilitated and people can live in them. The only problem is that some of these houses are now in high crime areas and I would not want to live in them. In fact, I am very cautious when I take pictures of them.
