Blessing of New Gospel Book

Through the loving kindness of a donor, we have a new Gospel Book for our temple and the book was blessed after the Liturgy on Sunday 1 March 2009. I carried it in processing for the blessing and starting on Sunday 7 March 2009 I will be using it on a regular basis.

This Sunday was very special for us. Fr. Karl Kish, a retired Navy chaplain, served with us and Kevin and Jennie were with us. I was quite surprised to see Jennie at Vigil on Saturday evening. But it was also a very pleasant surprise. Kevin is one of my godsons.

Natalie had a very difficult time getting good photographs of the blessing of the Gospel book because the altar servers were in the way. I can appreciate her problem because I often have a difficult time getting good pictures of some events for the same reason. I also believe that the only time that you should know that a photographer was there is when you see the photographs later. The exception is if he has to use a flash or has to direct. Even then the photographer should be as invisible as possible.
